Day 6-July 7, 2012
Contents:
Exodus 13:1-34:35
Questions and Observations:
When Israel leaves Egypt, they take Joseph's bone with them
God took them the long way to avoid battle, because he knew they would go back to Egypt
Pharaoh pursues with his entire army
The Cloud/Fire separate Israel and Egypt
East wind blows all night to part the Red Sea
Pharaoh and Egyptians are swept away
The Red Sea was probably for both Egypt and Israel, to show God's power
It only took three days after the Red Sea for Israelites to complain.
24:13---Did Joshua go up Sinai with Moses? Part of the way?
If Israel had just followed God's commands, their land would have been not only what is now Israel, but also much of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The chest pieces of the priest contain:
Red carnelian
Pale-green peridot
Emerald
Turquoise
Blue lapis lazuli
White moonstone
Orange jacinth
Agate
Purple amethyst
Blue-green beryl
Onyx
Green jasper
Israel is stupid:
While Moses is with God on Sinai, with lightning, clouds and smoke, they made an idol
Moses and Joshua came down the mountain and see it all, Moses breaks the tablets he has
Moses burns the calf, grinds up the gold, puts it in the water, and makes the Israelite drink it
What was the point of making them drink the powdered gold?
Aaron blames the "evil" people and said the gold just happened to "come out" a calf
33:11---the Lord would speak to Moses as one speaks to a friend
------Joshua would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.
